This special series on Management of Cardiac Arrhythmia - Broadening the Horizons of Surgical Interventions is co-edited by Dr. Anna Witkowska and Dr. Piotr Suwalski, from Central Clinical Hospital of the MSWiA, Warsaw, Poland.

Anna Witkowska, MD, PhD
Department of Cardiac Surgery, Central Clinical Hospital of the MSWiA, Warsaw, Poland

Dr. Anna Witkowska was the local coordinator of Thoracoscopic Epicardial/Hybrid Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Registry (TehAFAR) conducted as a part of the EURObservational Research Programme by ESC. Since March 2016 she is a co-investigator in a randomized multicenter clinical trial comparing endoscopic epicardial ablation with percutaneous one CEASE-AF Trial. She took part in conceiving and coordination of the prospective registry of patients undergoing surgical minimally invasive left atrial appendage exclusion - THORACS-LAAO (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03838341).

Since 2019, Dr. Witkowska is an academic lecturer in the Center of Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw. She is an author and co-author of reviews in the field of surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation and coronary artery disease, and many abstracts presented and awarded at national and international medical conferences.
